Raising Boys to Men: A Simple, Mercifully Short Book on Raising and Homeschooling Boys
by Durenda Wilson
About This Book
Are you a boy mom struggling to understand how to raise your son in a world that seems to be increasingly hostile toward men?
Raising boys in the current cultural climate is challenging. Boys are often misunderstood and misdiagnosed when they are simply doing what their Creator wired them to do. As moms of boys, we can struggle to understand them and respond in a way that will encourage our boys toward the kind of manhood to which God calls them.
In Raising Boys to Men, Durenda shares her three decades of experience raising and homeschooling her five boys. She brings wisdom and perspective that will inspire moms to see their sons in a fresh and hopeful way so they can raise the next generation of boys to be courageous men of faith and action.

About the Author
Durenda Wilson
Durenda has been married to Darryl for 31 years. He wanted two children and she wanted ten. They compromised at eight. Their kids were born between 1991 and 2004 and now range between 16 and 30 years old. Two have attended college and one graduated in 2016. She chose to home educate her children when her first one reached preschool and has never looked back. Now, with over 25 years of experience, she has taught each of her children through high school with only one left to graduate. Three of her children are married and she has six grandchildren who are also being homeschooled. During her years of experience in home education, she’s seen first-hand how kids learn naturally and effectively when they are given time and space along with encouragement to trust their own learning processes. Thus, it is her heart’s desire to take this hard-earned wisdom and mentor moms, encouraging them to trust their God-given instincts when it comes to raising and teaching their children. She believes an encouraged mom is always a better mom.
Durenda began a podcast for this purpose in July 2017, called The Durenda Wilson Podcast, which has grown quickly and gained recognition with both families and leaders in the homeschooling community. A weekly podcast, Durenda has recorded over two hundred episodes with almost half a million downloads. She covers a variety of topics including homeschooling children with dyslexia, ADD/ADHD, struggling learners, homeschooling through high school, unhurried homeschooling, dealing with anxiety, parental rights, talking to our kids about tough topics like pornography, general parenting, preparing our kids for life, screen time, the difference between homeschooling boys and girls, and much more. She often invites guests who are specialists in their field to help answer the questions of homeschooling families which have included Isaac Morehouse (CEO of Praxis), Michael Ramey (Director of parentalrights.org), Sarah MacKenzie (Read-Aloud Revival), Ginger Hubbard (I Can’t Believe You Just Said That!), Ginny Yurich (1000 Hours Outside), Dan Marcone (trauma/anxiety/ADD/ADHD counseling specialist), and Ashley Wiggers (Homeschooling Today).
